What kind of sewing machine is good for heavy fabrics like denim?

I am looking to get a sewing machine patching my jeans husbands and to make clothing and blankets for my daughter. What sewing machine should I get? I want one that will last a long time. Where I can get the sewing machine? I am looking at Amazon.com now.

Find one more, all machines in a thriftstore metal, and have it at a local sewing machine repair place. You can probably do this for under $ 100. These older machines are very durable and last a long time Unlike plastic machines of today. Look for one that has metal gears, as a singer of 400 and 500 series. Metal gears will give you plenty of energy to go through heavy material. DO NOT use the right needles, like size 16 or 18 jeans needles have a sharp point to penetrate better. Also could have cameras for decorative stitching on clothing for her daughter. Enjoy!
