I made a raised bed garden and I lined the bottom with the that black fabric weed control. How many inches of soil should cover the vegetables for my roots have enough space?
I believe that this defeated the purpose. If you put soil on top of the fabric, weeds can grow in soil. I've used a lot of this tissue in the landscaping and flowers, but I never got in the top soil, bark mulch, just another. When you start growing weeds, which can be easily pulled out of the dirt and can not take root through the fabric. Furthermore, if roots are below the fabric that can not grow through. Place the fabric between the rows of vegetables if you work. You can keep it with stones or those U-shaped little ears. Soil N needed.
